sirimon route.this route is the best for acclimatisation options and above all the most interesting since its on the drier side on the mountain. The route passes through impressive Yellowwood forests in the lower reaches and features abundant wildlife and beautiful alpine scenery higher up,it lies on the north western side of the mountain,the sirimon route has 2 permanent camps,that is oldmoses camp 3300m and shiptons camp 4200m,The mackinderws valley is passed through this side of the montain connecting the 3 main peaks that is point lenana,point,nelion and batian peaks.

weather in this route:This route is the most driest route,and more preferably for the starters.there is generary no heating in the camps.

chogoria route

The most scenic and interesting of the three main routes on the mountain.
The route passes the enchanting Hall Tarns and looks down sheer cliffs into the spectacular Gorges Valley and onto the beautiful Lake Michaelson.it was first introduced in 1920s by the trekker earnest carr,camping is possible in this route all the way to mintos camp,it has more beautiful lakes than all the other sides,the Nithi falls and vivian falls can be seen on this side of the mountain.you have very good chances to see the many lakes and tarns on chogoria routes than any other route in mtkenya.

Naromoru route
 
 This route is via Teleki Valley.It is the most boggy and wet route,it is less populated with hikers. A steep marshy section known as the Vertical bog, is reached one hour from Met Station, this section is terrible and is covered in three hours.(4000m)
 
The path contours along the right hand side of the Teleki Valley, keeping high and then gradually descending to pass Naro Moru stream to Mackinder’s Camp (4,200m). From Met Station to Mackinder’s camp is app 5-6 hours of hiking. The Austrian hut can be reached in a further 4 hours walk and another 45 min you see point Lenana (4985m)
